Commercial real estate firm Cushman & Wakefield reported for the first quarter of 2026 San Jose’s downtown district had an office vacancy rate of more than 30%. The rest of San Jose’s office space submarkets fared better. West San Jose had a rate of 11.5%, San Jose Mineta International Airport had a rate of 27.6%, North San Jose was at 16% and South San Jose had a 7.3% vacancy rate.

When compared to the larger San Francisco Bay Area region, Cushman & Wakefield’s East Bay Office Vacancy Rate sits at 27.4% and San Francisco’s at 31.6%.
